2011 Update

Mark Gray has not stopped since he returned to Mark Gray Associates in Spring 2011 following a brief spell as the interim CEO of ARCUK. Mark is now in demand again especially in health care matters for people with learning disabilities.

In July he hosted his first National Network for Learning Disability Nursing (NNLDN) conference in Bangor as the newly elected Chair and CEO of the National Network for Learning Disability Nurses and will be shortly launching its new exciting membership scheme, website and CPD forums.

If that wasn’t enough Mark is now an Associate Editor of Nursing Standard, The Journal of Learning Disability and was a judge at the Nursing Times Nursing Awards 2011.

Mark has also been working closely with Home Care Direct on personalised services on the re-development of their new exciting electronic careplan with Operations Director Gabrielle Clay and their training team on rewriting and editing of their support worker E-learning programmes.

This autumn Mark has been working on the promotion and development of Thomas Pocklington Trust’s Lighting Journey courses (developed with Mark Gray Associates) and the new housing professionals courses.

As we approach the winter Mark is rebranding and redesigning the Mark Gray Associates Website with our new corporate partners Bramley Computers and Crossley Websites to make it more interactive, dynamic and user-friendly and preparing to celebrate our first 5 years as a company!

Mark continues to be the Chair of the National Network for Learning Disability Nursing (NNLDN) and our next National Network CPD Day Focusing on Safeguarding, Clinical supervision and the future of Learning Disability nursing report is scheduled for Early July 2012 at Hertfordshire University. The date will be announced shortly and it will be in a new one-day format with Job fair.

Mark Returns to Head MGA

Mark Gray is pleased to announce he is back at Mark Gray Associates as the head consultant and trainer for the company.

Mark recently left to be the CEO at ARC UK but after eight months in the job both parties decided it was not working for them as they had planned.

Mark wishes all the best to the staff at ARC who supported him with the difficult issues he took the organisation through and is pleased that it has emerged a stronger and more financially secure organisation following his brief tenure.

Mark is now seeking interest for non-executive board work to supplement his time at MGA LTD.

NEW One-day Seminars

Mark Gray Associates LTD is working with ADASS and a range of Provider organisations of Learning Disability (Adult) services to discuss the future of support for adults with a Learning Disability.

These one-day seminars will look at mapping out and forming new coalitions and partnerships with local authorities, health and well being boards, PCTs GP commissioners, Service providers, individuals and families in receipt of direct payments and personal budget holders.

The days will look at Big society and its impact on Health and Social Care and discuss new ideas and innovative ways to shape the future.

The seminars will be in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. It is anticipated each day will be £75.00 per person.

Supervision Services

Supervision  is a recommended workplace activity in The Department of Health Good Practice in Learning Disability Nursing 2007 Publication. 

It recommends that all Nurses with RNLD should have regular time for supervisory activities such as reflective practice  self development and training. If you’re a nurse or a social care practitioner, In sensory Impairment or learning disability services and you are based in either the private or voluntary sector this might be difficult to get.

Our  supervision sessions are structured so that you have a chance to identify your work goals, discuss your mental health and wellbeing. Consider reflective practice on work issues, and develop or identify new positive strategies and problem solving. We will support you to find research training and mentoring and discover opportunities to make you a more rounded and professional practitioner.

Our supervision sessions

Each  supervision session is timed to be an hours duration and can be undertaken in person face to face at an agreed location* or sessions  will be Via zoom or Microsoft teams you will receive a copy of your supervision and details will remain confidential to you and the the supervisor. Unless a disclosure is made that may result in criminal proceedings or a safeguarding situation, in which you case you will be informed that the content will be shared with an authorised third party.

The frequency of sessions is decided by you we recommend a minimum of quarterly sessions or every three months, but you may have them more frequently such as monthly or fortnightly.
