Course information on deafblind awareness:

This one-day awareness course is about supporting people who are Deafblind with learning disabilities. Focusing on Congenital Deafblindness (where the condition is present from birth) it identifies the key visual and hearing conditions which combined can lead an individual to be supported as Deafblind.

Although this awareness course focuses on congenital issues It will cover both congenital and acquired Deafblindness issues in this client group and will provide an overview of the best communication support methods and resources for further support.

Deafblind awareness training is part of the Care Act 2012 requirements for Section 7 compliance and the Government 2014 Guidance for local Authorities

It is available in-house for 20 people and includes handouts and resource information to take home.

Who should attend a deafblind awareness day?

This  awareness course is open to all Education ,Health and Social Care professionals, parents and family carers who are supporting people who are Deafblind with learning disabilities, SEN Teachers  and Parents are especially welcome.
