Course information:
The Visual Awareness and Sighted Guide Course is a four hour course that explores the main eye conditions that affect people with Visual Disabilities.
We will al
so provide experience of Guiding Skills to ensure safe practice.
- For general Walking
- Going through doors
- Negotiating narrow spaces
- Sitting safely
- Using Steps , Stairs and Kerbs
- Getting in and out of Vehicles
This half -day course is delivered through a series of presentations and some group work.
The Visual awareness & Sighted Guide Course will cover Key causes of sight loss
- Cataracts
- Macular Disease
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Hemianopia
It is available in-house for 10 people and includes handouts and resource information to take home.
Participants will need to be an even number of a maximum of 10 persons for Health and safety purposes
Who should attend?
This course is open to all Health and Social Care professionals, parents and family carers are especially welcome.
